Does every action mean anything?

A conversation with Mr. X on a late November.

"I just hung out with a guy, and hope he understands that we can't be more than friends lalalala... I just want to be his buddy :D"
"Hmm, don't you know that what you did would mean "Try harder Please" to him?"
"Haaaaa?? Really? No, I guess it's simply your personal opinion"
"Not only me who thinks so"
"Well, why can't a man be friends with a woman without a certain feeling? I though it should be normal if I friend with you or any other man in this world.."
"Nope. When a man makes friend with a woman, there should be an interest"
"So it is also not safe for me to be friends with you, eh?? Let's friend online only :D".
"Don't worry, that's for man Type 1, I'm Type-2"

And just few days later he asked me out.

"If I accept your invitation, what would it mean? Is it a -don't try any harder please- sign?"
"what about -2 normal young people going out together- ? Good enough? :D"
